Important Information for Texas Customers

How do I get the advertised price of $8.49 for home phone service?

The $8.49 advertised price includes two discounts that are added to your account after activation of the Bronze, $32.49/mo plan: The Lifeline discount and the autopay discount.

Bronze Plan Price $32.49
Lifeline Discount  - $16.00
Autopay Discount - $8.00
Total Monthly $8.49

The Lifeline Discount - The $16.00/mo Lifeline discount is automatically added to your account once qualification is verified through the Texas Low Income Discount Administrator (LIDA). Monthly, the Texas LIDA (Solix) will update our records with customers that qualify for the discount. If you are qualified (according to Solix) your account will begin receiving the monthly discount of $16.00.

The Autopay Discount - The $8 auto-pay discount is a credit for those customers who put a credit or debit card on file and authorize us to charge to it their monthly home phone service. To get started, call customers service and ask to use auto-pay.

How can I be sure that I will get the $16.00 lifeline discount?

If you are currently enrolled in one of the programs listed below, you should be on file with the Texas LIDA (Solix). Solix uses customer records provided by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), along with data from customer self-enrollment. To make sure that you are on file with the LIDA, you can fill out a self enrollment form or call 1-866-454-8387.

I thought this was free to start. Why is there a $30 activation and why is there a charge for the first month of service?

The service is free to start. We will get your phone activated without collecting any money from you but the first month of service is not free. You will receive your first bill after service is active and it will be for the $30 activation plus taxes and fees (a total of about $33.50). The second bill you receive will be for the first month's service.

How do I qualify for the $30 Linkup credit?

The Linkup credit is no longer available. The Link-up program has been eliminated by the FCC.

When is my first bill due?

Your first bill is due 22 days after your phone becomes active. It should arrive by mail 1 week to 10 days after activation.

What happened to Link Up? There used to be a Link Up Credit to help pay for activation.

The FCC released an order on February 6, 2012 to reform the low-income program of the Universal Service Fund. In this order, the FCC eliminated Link Up for non-Tribal areas. The elimination of Link Up was effective 4/1/2012.
